The present invention relates to channels within solid forms, especially 3D-printed solid forms such as pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, or food supplement. The channels facilitate overall disintegration and / or dissolution of the solid form within an appropriate medium. The channels outline in the present invention are particular useful for facilitating dissolution of 3D-printed solid dosage forms which, by virtue of the parameters of the printing process, will generally comprise carrier materials and/or excipients which can otherwise inhibit disintegration and/or dissolution.
The present invention uses channels to improve the disintegration and solubility characteristics of 3D-printed solid forms, especially where rapid solubility is required.
